Monday
Photoshop Work Time
Students used videos and notes to fill in the blanks on their worksheet. They then practiced using a several methods, such as the color replacement tool, to modify colors on their images.

Restorative Practices Workshop
I was out today participating in a workshop on Restorative Practices. Want to learn more, here is a great article from the International Institute of Restorative Practices to get you started.

Wednesday
Field Trip - The 12th Project Homeless Connect
Students volunteered their time to help our community by participating in Project Homeless Connect, "a one-day resource fair that will provide homeless San Diegan's with services to connect them with permanent housing opportunities, as well as health screenings, flu and Hepatitis A vaccinations, dental exams, haircuts, legal aid, pet care and additional services." Students also had a chance to hear from Councilman Ward.

Thursday
Welcome to Black History Month
We began in circle today and reflected on the words presented by Maya Angelou in her poem, still I rise. We focused on questions of identity and made connections of the poem's message to our own lives. We discussed how Maya Angelou overcame hardship and discrimination to find her own voice and to influence others to believe in themselves and use their voices for positive change.
Time to Finish Fitness Guild Challenges From January
With our remaining time students worked to complete challenges that they selected for the month of January. They were expected to complete 3 challenges.

We ended the week with a game of capture the flag. This game is perfect for our class because their are roles for everyone.
