This week was short but we still packed in a lot into the three days we spent together.

Wednesday's Goals:

  • review the week ahead

  • On Friday we will login to computers and start working in Adobe Illustrator

  • Discuss Challenge by Choice

  • Students always get to choose the level of engagement so that they can perform all activities at a level that is appropriate for them. This should not be confused with an option not to participate at all.

  • Course Info

  • We talked briefly about the importance of preparing students for a happy and healthy life.

  • Reflect on 2017

  • we thought back to 2017 and responded in writing to one of two prompts

  • 1 Hard Lesson I Learned

  • 1 Favorite Memory

  • We then considered something we wanted to leave behind in 2017, maybe a way we acted or treated someone that we want to improve upon, or a habit that we would like to change. We recorded this idea and then literally stamped it out to symbolize our commitment to grow and improve in the coming year.

  • Perform the Perfect Push-Up

  • students practiced completing perfect push-ups which meant they had to choose the push-up variation that they could do safely and with good form. We discussed how important it is to work at your ability level by progressing or regressing an exercise so it is right for you.

Thursday's Goals:

Today we returned to thinking about the new year this time with a focus on setting goals for 2018. Students responded to one of two prompts, either:

  • 1 Thing I Want To Get Better At

  • 1 Thing I Am Looking Forward To

We then ran in the new year with our goals in mind. Students had the choice to run a large lap, or a small lap and chose the level of intensity with which they would run the lap. This run served as a warmup for our tiny workout, the Tabata set.

Friday's Goals:

Today we logged in to the computers and started getting organized. We created files to store images that we will use to learn various skills in Photoshop and we bookmarked the Digital Notes webpage so we could return to it in the future.

Students will access their Photoshop Skills portfolio through Google Classroom and add will regularly add images of the work they complete.

Students will be guided through the first set of skills by watching a short video series I prepared.
