Equity Deep Dive
For the past three years, HTH staff and faculty (and even parents of our HTH students) have come together for a day-long Equity Deep Dive, both to affirm that equity is at the core of our organization and to move equity work forward across our schools.
The workshops:
Cultural Capital Consciousness Workshop Resources
Equitable Practices & Microaggressions Workshop Resources
Teaching Equity in the Face of Opposition
Overall this was a great day, and even though I had to leave the classroom to attend I am hoping that the time away will yield great rewards.
Tuesday

Computer Lab Catch Up
Today we took time to catch up on overdue assignments, or to explore new software such as the 3D modeling software Sculptris. This is a free program that students can download at home if you'd like.
Wednesday

Teambuilding
Combination: small groups decide on a combination of medicine ball weights and colors that they will attempt to retrieve and store at their base before the other teams do the same.
Snake: teams work collaboratively (as a "snake" moving together with hands on shoulder) to collect and transport medicine balls back to their base.
Circle Soccer: with the same premise as snake, teams move medicine balls collaboratively, but this time the team is in a ring shape.
Hunger Games Tag: Students divide into districts and race to find a bopper (foam pool noodle) that they would use to tag other players with.

Circuit Circus Round 2
Friday
Facing Cancer Speaker Series

We were joined by students and families from High Tech Middle North County, and High Tech Middle Chula Vista in experiencing a variety of speakers sharing their perspectives and experience on cancer. Part of the morning was also spent participating in an engineering challenge with students from all of the three different schools.
