Intro to Mindfulness
Today we began by considering the stresses that each of us bring with us to school each day - there are a lot of things happening in the world that may weigh on us, and in turn prevent us from giving our full attention during class.
We watched this video on managing stress.
And then students participated in a visualization activity. I read a script that walked them through a scene, they tried to imagine this scene in their mind. They paid special attention to imagining with all of their senses (which included colors, temperatures, smells, textures etc.).
By distracting ourselves in activities like this we can train our minds to better focus on the tasks we want to focus on! And take a break from thoughts that may be overwhelming or stressful.
Designing for Illustrator
We began to consider that in order to use the laser cutter to create cool designs we need to understand how to "communicate" with it and know the correct "commands"to get the result we are looking for.
Today we looked over a few examples of the types of cuts the laser cutter can make without worrying about naming them. Next time we will put on our detective hats and look for patterns to determine which colors (in our Adobe Illustrator design) are responsible for which outcomes from the laser cutter.
Tuesday - Team Building Chris and Carries team only

A few important take aways from our team building time:
Building off of last weeks team building it is important to remember how important it is to show support for people on our team when they make mistakes. We all mistakes! We all deserve compassion and support!
Being a good team mate means winning with humility and loosing with grace.

Time in computer lab today was spent giving students a little bit more time to work on
their first mini project in photoshop.

Pen Tool Certification
Students began taking their Adobe Illustrator skills to the next level by learning the Pen Tool. Students should complete level one and screenshot their work and upload image (command + shift + 4). Students are encouraged to watch a small part of the video, pause the video and then do the activity.
