Week 16 - Film Week

This week was unique in that students rotated daily through 5 stations with all of the teachers in the 7th grade! This enabled us to reserve one room especially for filming.

Students practiced using the CAASPP testing system (which they will use next week for the annual state testing designed to assess some of their strengths in Math and English/Language Arts). You can try the test for yourself here if you would like!

"Room" 2 - Week of WalkingEach day students set our for a special destination within a 1 mile radius of our school. Upon arriving at their destination they reflected in writing (or using other creative means). They were also asked to capture three photographs each day that fit with the provided prompts (ex. a reflection of yourself).

Room 3 - Quiet Work

A study hall atmosphere was created to allow students to do a variety of tasks from rehearsing before their filming shoot, continuing on project work and even catching up on missing assignments. The room needed to be quiet because it was right next to our filming room.

Room 4 - Math Lab

Students participated in a focused math lesson each day targeted at developing problem solving skills and perseverance in anticipation of next weeks state testing.

Room 5 - Editing Practice

Students used unedited film clips from a professional film shoot to create their own horror movie scene that matched the script provided. They found royalty free music to develop the appropriate tone of their films. Next week each group will receive their own film footage to edit into their final videos.
