Welcome Back! Monday!

We stared with a physical warm-up activity.

Today we set off on a journey to investigate our strengths.

To help us realize that strengths are more than physical (and our focus in this activity really is on our personality and character strengths) I posed three challenges:

  1. try to do 50 push ups without stopping

  2. in partners, person A worked to get person B to smile, while person B tried to hold a straight face

  3. individually try to decode the word puzzles below

From these challenges we had a discussion about what "strengths" are by addressing the following questions:

  • What do you noticed about the meaning of the word "strength" as it relates to the challenges you just took on?

  • How is strength defined in different ways?

  • Who here in this room believes they have strength?

We then brainstormed non-physical strengths, and looked at the 24 character strengths presented by the VIA Institute of Character.

We ended our time together with a short game of chair volleyball.
