Tuesday - Circuit Training (round 2)

This is our second round of circuit training - with 7 brand new exercises.

We began by reviewing basic muscle functioning with this video.

And then discussed the different phases of muscle a contraction:

  • concentric contraction phase: the part of the movement where you lift the load (weight) by opposing gravity; the muscle shortens during this phase.

  • isometric contraction: a contraction is formed by holding a limb in the same position (the limb angle does not change, the muscle length does not change)

  • eccentric contraction phase: the part of the movement where you lower the load, moving with gravity; the muscle lengthens during this phase.
